During this course students are introduced to the composition of a variety of Bodhisattvas. A Bodhisattva is a fully awakened being that dedicates their life towards helping others realize their potential. Bodhisattvas operate through the greatest motivation to end all suffering through loving compassion (karunamaya). Bodhisattvas have a rich art historical tradition. Through lecture, powerpoint, artbooks and master artists, students will learn a variety of Bodhisattva names, identifications and stories.
Students complete one painting of a Bodhisattva of their choice. “Introduction to Buddhism through Painting” is a prerequisite for this course. Students must register for this course at the MAC.
The classes are on Mondays from 4PM to 730PM. There are 16 classes. Fees are due on a monthly basis. Everyone paints at their own pace, generally it takes four months of class to finish the painting. We will continue class until it is finished on a month to month basis.
Classes are paid month by month. We will schedule time to make up absences at the students’ discretion.
Each Saturday Session cost is: MAC members: $25 Non members: $30
